Katai Martial Arts
Where Honor and Character Count
At Katai Martial Arts, we believe in developing positive character traits such as self-discipline, self-respect, self- confidence, respect of others, loyalty and Honor.

We do this in a positive environment that encourages goal setting, overcoming challenges,
and friendly competition.

Without a philosophy of personal development, Martial Arts would be little more than
street fighting.  At Katai Martial Arts, our philosophy is based on the National Dojo
Creed, composed by Robert A. Trias, the first man to open a Karate school in America.

  • I shall conduct myself in a manner which will reflect credit upon myself and society.
  • I shall be loyal to my school and to the art it teaches.
  • I shall be honest, with the purpose of developing cooperation and trust with my
    karate-ka and my teachers.
  • I shall exercise restraint in the use of my karate, employing it only in fair competition
and in the defense of my life, my family, and my country.

We also encourage this philosophy in our Tiny Tigers classes.

  • I will make good choices in order to make my parents proud.
  • I will practice at home and work hard in class in order to may my Sensei proud.
  • I will always tell the truth and keep my promises.
  • I will only use my karate in competition and emergencies.

At Katai Martial Arts, we emphasize a series of basic life skills that challenge our
students throughout not only their Martial Arts training, but in their everyday lives
as well.  We do this by teaching traditional Martial Arts with modern teaching
techniques. Our classes are also a lot of fun.

We believe that our Martial Arts program is a great way for the whole family to
train and develop together. At Katai Martial Arts we strive to improve the whole
person, we believe that Honor and Character do TRULY count.
